JOLIET - Officials believe a fire that destroyed a vehicle Tuesday morning may have been set intentionally.
Joliet Fire Battalion Chief Ron Schroeder said crews were called at 4:26 a.m. to the 400 block of North Center Street after a Chevrolet Tahoe caught fire.
"They arrived to find flames coming from the passenger compartment, but were able to knock (the fire) down quickly," Schroeder said.
The SUV was parked outside and the fire threatened to spread to a nearby building before being extinguished.
The blaze is considered "suspicious" and an arson investigator is assigned, Schroeder said.
