To the Editor:
In response to deer culling in our areas, I went to the first meeting the Will County Forest Preserve District held to talk about deer culling in McKinley Woods. There was standing room only. The bow hunters asked if they could close the forest two or three days of a week to let hunters legally hunt deer. It was stated that they could not close the park.
As of right now, there is a sign in front of the park saying it will be closed November to March on Monday and Thursday because of deer culling. The Will County Forest Preserve District builds dog parks and bike trails, which cost us lots of money but closes all ground to area sportsmen. Letting sportsmen use some of their grounds would be free to the preserve.
