WILMINGTON – A motel manager discovered a decomposing body Monday inside the Wilmington business after employees noticed a strong smell outside one of its rooms.
When the manager at the Van Duyne Motel, 107 Bridge St., found the body in an advanced stage of decomposition, police were called and began an investigation, according to a Wilmington Police Department news release.
Police do not suspect foul play and found no signs of illegal activity in the room, the release stated.
The Will County Coroner's Office removed the body and will determine the exact cause of death, according to the release.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending identification and notification of next of kin.
