JOLIET – Joliet Public Schools District 86 will have a new assistant superintendent for business and financial services, according to a district news release.
Tamara Mitchell will replace E. Wesley Russell as the new business official for the district July 1, district officials stated in a news release. Russell will retire at the end of June, said Sandy Zalewski, the district’s spokeswoman.
Last December, Superintendent Charles Coleman, who will also retire this year, said Russell would have changes in his duties and responsibilities based on overall needs for the district.
Mitchell comes from Bradley Elementary School District 61, where she has been the finance and business operations director since 2011, according to the news release.
She also has business experience at Crete-Monee School District 201-U, Matteson Elementary School District 162 and Thornton Township High School District 205.
Mitchell has a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a master’s degree in education and school business management from Northern Illinois University.
Other administrative changes
Laura Hodge, Dirksen Junior High School interim assistant principal, was approved by the board to become assistant principal. Kenny Johnson, interim academic adviser at Dirksen, was approved to become academic adviser.
