SHOREWOOD – A car caught fire Monday while going through a bank drive-thru in Shorewood.
The incident occurred about 4:10 p.m. at the TCF Bank at 998 Brook Forest Ave., according to Troy Fire Protection District Capt. Kyle Smicker.
No one was injured, and while the car was destroyed after becoming fully engulfed in flames, there was little damage to the bank, Smicker said.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 15 minutes, according to Smicker, and Brook Forest Avenue was briefly shut down.
Fire agencies from Plainfield, Minooka, Channahon, Lockport Township, Manhattan, Wilmington, East Joliet, Rockdale and Romeoville assisted Troy firefighters in their response.
