JOLIET – Bluestem Earth Festival 2017 will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 20 at the University of St. Francis at 500 Wilcox St. in Joliet.
Experience over 80 eco-conscious exhibits and vendors, earth-friendly activities, live demos, local food, music and many children’s activities.
New for 2017 is Bluestem University. Participate in short, educational, hands-on courses with take home items and raffle prizes. Course list and times are available at www.bluestemearthfestival.com/bluestem-university.
Vendors represent heirloom plants/vegetables, pastries, all-natural farm products, fair trade crafts, organic foods, beekeepers and wildlife rescue, master gardeners, all-natural soaps and skin care products, solar and natural energy, upcycled products and furniture.
Children’s activities include recycled craft projects, visiting owls, pet adoption, free ice cream and face painting.
“Educational Encounter with Exotic Animals" will be at 11:30 a.m. and . and 1:30 p.m. Show is one hour. Stay for the full hour or just stop in.
Music is by The Running Fox Bluegrass Band
There will be a food pantry collection and Joliet Noon Lions Club will also collect eyeglasses, hearing aids, pull tabs, used ink cartridges, keys and cell phones.
