You'll have a couple of opportunities to hear directly from your representatives in Springfield coming up this month.
Thursday, Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, D-Shorewood, Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, and Rep. Larry Walsh Jr., D-Joliet, will be at Troy Middle School for a town hall on school funding. They'll discuss the facts about school funding reform with Senate Bill 1 up for a potential override vote after Gov. Bruce Rauner vetoed it last week.
They'll be joined by Troy School District 30-C Superintendent Todd Koehl, Plainfield Community School District 202 Superintendent Lane Abrell and Executive Director of Advance Illinois Ginger Ostro, who'll be presenting.
Troy Middle School is at 5800 Theodore Drive in Plainfield and the town hall will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. For those who cannot make it, the event will be streamed on Facebook live during the event.
Then on August 23, Bertino-Tarrant will host a coffee and conversation event at the White Oak Library Crest Hill District from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
“I encourage community members to join me for a casual conversation about state government over a cup of coffee,” Bertino-Tarrant said on the Facebook page for the event.
The library is located at 20670 Len Kubinski Drive in Crest Hill.
