JOLIET – A parent filed a police report in an incident where a boy allegedly grabbed another boy’s chest at Washington Junior High and Academy.
On Oct. 12, a parent of a student at the school filed a police report that alleged her son was grabbed by the chest by another student.
The grabbing student allegedly cupped the boy’s chest and shook it, Joliet police Capt. Jeff Allbert said. The incident happened while the school was holding a fire drill, Allbert said.
Allbert said the mother claimed her son had past issues with the other boy.
Sandy Zalewski, Joliet Public Schools District 86 spokeswoman, said district officials were made aware of the incident that occurred Oct. 12 and a full investigation was launched as soon as a report was made.
Zalewski said she could not discuss specific actions undertaken after the investigation because of student confidentiality laws.
Zalewski also said the safety and security of the district’s students and staff is a top priority for district officials and that all reports that involve student safety are taken seriously.
Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said Tuesday that he didn’t know whether the police were investigating the incident.
