JOLIET – A Joliet man who allegedly crashed into another vehicle was arrested after it was revealed that he had been driving under the influence of PCP, police said.
On Monday afternoon, a traffic crash occurred on Larkin Avenue and West Jefferson Street that allegedly involved Earl J. Jones Jr., 33, of the 500 block of West Bellarmine Drive, and the driver of another vehicle.
Jones allegedly ran into the back of the other vehicle, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said. He said Jones was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center for treatment.
During the course of an investigation, officers believed Jones was intoxicated while driving. A urine test at the hospital allegedly revealed that he was under the influence of PCP, a hallucinogenic substance.
Jones was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence, driving under the influence of drugs, driving with no license, driving with a suspended license and operating a vehicle with no insurance. He was booked into the Will County jail.
