JOLIET – Illinois State Police are investigating a shooting that took place Sunday afternoon on an Interstate 80 ramp in Joliet, leaving one person injured.

The incident occurred about 4 p.m. Sunday, while the male victim was driving on the ramp from Richards Street to westbound I-80 in Joliet, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police.

The Joliet man, who is in his mid-20s, suffered three gunshot wounds that were not life-threatening and was taken to an area hospital, the release stated. The suspect’s identity still is under investigation.

The shooting appears to be an isolated incident and was not a random act of violence. The release said the Joliet man appeared to be the sole target of the attack. Further information about the victim and the alleged shooter was not available Monday afternoon.
