To the Editor:
President Donald Trump is a liar and always has been.
He began his presidency exaggerating the size of his inaugural crowd and deceives us every day since. We watch daily in horror at his snake pit of vipers.
Ask the author of “The Art of the Deal,” Tony Schwartz, who wrote Trump’s signature book in 1987 after spending extensive time with Trump. Recognizing Trump’s depraved evil, Mr. Schwartz warned before the election that if Trump were elected, civilization would be existentially threatened. That’s saying a lot from a man who knows his subject.
Ask the 27 psychiatrists who declared that Trump is not only a malignant narcissist, but a menacing man. They published their findings in “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump.”
And now we hear that instead of making the world a better place, Trump is doing his best to debase it, poison it, defile it. Evangelicals should be calling him out on this, because God commands us to be good stewards of the earth. Not to serve mammon. Not to promote greed as Trump wantonly does.
Kneecapping the future of our planet is beyond the pale. Trump’s environmental deregulation will endanger the health of the people.
For what purpose? To pile more gold into corporate coffers while the rest of us struggle with dirty water, dirty air, higher food prices and even death.
Northern European countries make huge environmental investments and enjoy a higher standard of living and longer life span than us. Reports recently indicate that their people are among the happiest in the world and thus makes Trump’s excuse for deregulation utter nonsense.
Are these deregulations something childish, something petty? Such as a spiteful reversal of all Obama policies? Undoubtedly, which reveals Trump’s warped perversion, fragile ego, thin-skinned cowardice and sick psyche.
It must not be tolerated.
