LocalLit is a new short story newsletter that connects local authors with local readers. The newsletter kicked off in April. Each week a new short story by a local author is sent directly to subscribers email.
Next week's short story is by Carolyn Hill of New Lenox. Recently Hill took a few minutes to provide some information via email to Herald-News features editor Denise M. Baran-Unland.
Writing background
Hill has worked as a columnist for the The Herald-News in Joliet (Chicago Sun-Times media), earned an Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from Connecticut's Charter Oaks State College and the Institute for Writers in Redding Connecticut.
She has contributed political commentary to the Western Journalism Center as well as her own website.
Ten years of business experience as an entrepreneur helps with web content. Her studies of the Bible are useful in the writing of sermons. Over the last 15 years, she has continued in self-study from The Great Courses in Chantilly, Virginia on the subjects of philosophy, the first and second amendment, and is redoing constitutional studies at Hillsdale College on-line, Hillsdale, Michigan.

Hill has published multiple short stories in the anthologies: "Troubling Times" and "Memory Lane," and is currently working on additional stories for a third book covering the subject of Faith. She is also ghosting a book with a client on a “Tell All” theme.

Authors with a connection to our readership area may submit. Submission does not guarantee acceptance. Stories should be edited and between 1,000 words and 7,500 words.
