The Troy Community School District 30-C Board of Education in May named Mark Peter as a new Troy Middle School assistant principal.

Peter will join Margaret Lopez as one of the two T.M.S. assistant principals serving under Principal Renee Marski.

Peter has been with the Troy district 11 years, teaching cultural literature, synergistics and U.S. history. He has also served the district as interim assistant principal and interim athletic director.

Peter also coaches softball and basketball and recently received Illinois Basketball District 9 Coaches Association Coach of the Year for his position as seventh-grade girls basketball coach.

Before coming to Troy, Peter taught at Plainfield South High School and at East Aurora High School.

Peter replaces Tyler Hammond, who served Troy as assistant principal for five years and resigned to take the position of principal at Plank Jr. High School in Oswego District 308.

The Troy school board in May also accepted the resignation of Troy Executive Director of Human Resources Paul Schrik, who will leave the district June 29 to become Superintendent of Rockdale School District 84. Schrik held the Troy position for four years.
