Dr. Syed Ahmed, a board-certified cardiologist with Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists, was appointed to the rank of lecturer in the department of internal medicine at Rush Medical College within Rush University.
The appointment is a two-year term and allows Ahmed to both practice as a cardiologist and lecture at Rush University.
Ahmed has been a practicing cardiologist for 15 years and has been on staff at Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers since 2013. He came to Morris Hospital from Mercy Hospital in Des Moines where he was a practicing cardiologist for 10 years.
He is board certified in internal medicine, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. He is also a member of the American College of Cardiology.
As cardiologist, Ahmed has expertise in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease, blood pressure management, heart failure, circulation problems of the lower extremity and cholesterol management.
His specialized training as an interventional cardiologist makes him qualified to perform advanced testing and procedures in the Morris Hospital cath lab, including angiography, angioplasty and stenting of the coronary and vascular arteries.
Along with Ahmed, Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists also includes Dr. Mary Gordon (also new), Dr. Muhammad Marwali and Dr. Athar Saeed.
Together, the cardiologists diagnosis, treat and manage cardiovascular conditions, utilizing the Morris Hospital Cath Lab for procedures such as angioplasty, stents, pacemakers and defibrillators.
