One commerical vehicle driver was transported to Morris Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being involved in a three-vehicle collision on Interstate 55 at 10:49 a.m. Saturday morning.
The accident involved two commercial vehicles and one pickup truck, said Illinois State Police Trooper DeAnn Falat. It caused the left lanes of northbound and southbound I-55 to shut down.
The crash occurred near Arsenal Road in Channahon. One local resident, Scott Fickling, said he witnessed the accident and recalled seeing one of the commercial vehicles slide onto its side on the median.
“That was the most traumatic accident I’ve ever seen,” Fickling said.
Fickling said traffic was moving slowly prior to the crash. He said a commercial vehicle rearended another vehicle “at a high rate of speed.”
