A Romeoville veteran will be one of 200 honored, as a part of the Illinois bicentennial celebration, for his contributions to the state.
The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs and the Illinois Bicentennial Office named Tom Wilczak as one of the recipients of the Bicentennial Honor 200, according to a news release from the village of Romeoville.
Wilczak is among recipients from more than 50 counties across the state. Nominees were evaluated based on their achievements and the extent to which their contributions have aided, benefited and provided inspiration to their community at large. Nominees also must have received an honorable discharge and live in Illinois.
The recipients are invited to attend an official event Dec. 3.
