The National Weather Service upgraded its winter storm watch to a warning across northern Illinois early Friday morning.
The warning is in effect from 7 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday, and 3 to 7 inches of snow are predicted.
Wind gusts are also predicted from 30 to 35 mph, reducing visibility. The weather conditions could affect the Friday evening commute, the weather service said.
If travel is necessary, keep an extra flashlight, food and water on-hand in case of emergency.
