The Herald-News obtained police reports detailing the investigation of WESCOM dispatcher Samantha Harer’s mysterious death the day before Valentine’s Day.
Harer died of a gunshot wound to her head. Ten months later, the Will County Coroner’s Office ruled her death a suicide.
The police reports were from multiple officers who were at the scene of Harer’s death in her Channahon apartment.
Crest Hill police officer Felipe “Phil” Flores was the only other person in the apartment with Harer, whom he was dating at the time. He was placed on paid administrative leave throughout the investigation. After Harer’s death was ruled a suicide, Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark said his department would conduct an internal investigation of Flores.
After Harer shot herself about 8:15 a.m., Flores called 911 and officers were dispatched to the apartment.
