A 70-year-old Chicago man and 21-year-old Plainfield man died over the weekend after a pair of separate car crashes.
Gerardo Castaneda, 70, of Chicago, was pronounced dead at 3:05 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Route 30 and Interstate 55 in Joliet, according to a news release from the Will County Coroner's Office. Castaneda was reportedly a passenger involved in a "single-vehicle mishap."
An autopsy performed Monday showed he suffered multiple injuries.
Keegan W. Sauerman, 21, of Plainfield, was pronounced dead at 1:01 a.m. Monday. He was the driver of a vehicle that left the roadway in the 700 block of Hollywood Boulevard in Joliet.
An autopsy showed he suffered injuries due to the incident.
Funeral services for Sauerman will be held at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home.
