Joliet man charged with assault, battery

Suspect was arrested at Dollar General store in Joliet

A Joliet man was charged with battery, assault and disorderly conduct after he was arrested at a Dollar General store, according to the Joliet police arrest log.

About 7 p.m. Wednesday, Wayne Orkwiszewski Jr., 57, of the 1300 block of North Prairie Avenue, was taken into police custody.

Orkwiszewski was arrested at the Dollar General store at 916 W. Jefferson St. and then was released on his own recognizance. He has a court date scheduled for April 4.

Joliet police Sgt. Christopher Botzum did not respond to an inquiry about the arrest Thursday.

On June 7, 2005, Orkwiszewski was arrested by Romeoville police and charged with violating an order of protection. On Sept. 8, 2005, he pleaded guilty to the charge.

A Will County judge sentenced Orkwiszewski to 18 months of conditional discharge and ordered him to pay a fine of $84. He also was ordered to obtain a psychological evaluation and comply with the recommendations.

In November 2005, Orkwiszewski was arrested by Joliet police and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

In February 2006, Orkwiszewski pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and another charge was dropped. He was sentenced to
60 days in the Will County jail and credited for 30 days already served. He also was ordered to pay about $1,223, to obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation, and to comply with its recommendations.
