Why Wright was selected: The Griffins senior track and field athlete claimed titles in four individual events at the SouthWest Suburban Conference indoor meet. She was first in the 60 dash, 200 dash 400 dash and long jump to help the Griffins win the title by 53 points.
Herald-News sports writer Curt Herron talked with Wright.
Herron: What do you like most about track and field?
Wright: I love the challenge that it gives me and every day I have to have a new goal over what I want to hit and how I can accomplish that in practice.
Herron: What did you like the most about this year's team?
Wright: I love how close this team is. We spend a lot of time on and off the track and we help each other and I love the team atmosphere there is.
Herron: What do you like the most about competing for Lincoln-Way East?
Wright: I like how good this school is, not just athletically, but altogether. I'm able to relate to other student athletes here and we get to talk about our experiences.
Herron: What's your favorite sports team and who's your favorite athlete?
Wright: The Bears. Sanya Richards-Ross.
Herron: Who would you'd like to meet?
Wright: Sydney McLaughlin and Allyson Felix.
Herron: What do you want to do in the future?
Wright: I'm running collegiately at Eastern Illinois and one of my goals is to make it to nationals. I'm going to major in finance.
Herron: What's your favorite type of food and place to eat?
Wright: Seafood all day, every day. Raising Cane's.
Herron: What do you like to do in your free time?
Wright: I still run in my free time, I do some reading and also watch TV.

Herron: Where's the most interesting place you've been and where you would like to visit?
Wright: Paris. Dubai.
