Joliet firefighters battled a blaze at a three-story apartment building late Tuesday. Joliet fire crews responded just after 11:50 p.m. Tuesday to a three-story, six-unit apartment building, located at 22 N. Cagwin Ave., for a reported fire, Joliet Fire Deputy Chief Greg Blaskey said.
Eight occupants of the building were able to safely escape before emergency personnel were on the scene. When firefighters arrived, they found “heavy fire” on a rear enclosed porch. The blaze was extinguished after crews were able to safely get inside the building, according to a post on the Joliet Fire Department’s Facebook page.
No one was injured, and residents were provided with temporary housing from the American Red Cross, Blaskey said.
The fire caused about $130,000 in damage. Joliet fire investigators continued to investigate the cause of the blaze Wednesday.
