Nine-year-old Evan Simms of South Wilmington said he wants to encourage more people to become living organ donors when he testified in front of the Senate Revenue Committee last month on legislation (Senate Bill 68) sponsored by State Senator Sue Rezin (R-Morris).
That bill passed the full Senate on April 11.
Senate Bill 68 would allow businesses to receive a tax credit for offering their employees 30 days of paid leave if they decide to be a living organ donor.
Evan, who is a kidney recipient, was extremely brave to share his story said Sen. Rezin. She also noted that he has been a large contributor to the bill’s success.
