2nd Annual PrideFest returns to Mokena

The local LGBTQ communities along with family, friends and supporters get together once again for a day of fun, entertainment and activities.

On June 8, the second annual PrideFest hosted by Instill Pride in collaboration with Southwest Suburban Activists will take place from noon to 8 p.m. at Yunker Farm located at 10824 W La Porte Road in Mokena.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the gay pride movement and Instill Pride would like to recognize this momentous event in our country’s history with a day of fun and inclusion. Admission is free .

Instill Pride is inviting local businesses and organizations to support PrideFest 2019. This is a family friendly festival with many children’s activities planned as well as great music, food and entertainment. Donations will be used to cover expenses for the day.

About Southwest Suburban Activists

The Southwest Suburban Activists (SWSA) work to bring tolerance, empathy, and solidarity to the south and southwest suburbs.

The group started in 2017 with just ten people and has grown to an organization of over 600 members.

SWSA has participated in a variety of activities to assist the communities from food/clothing drives to referral services.
