A man was robbed at gunpoint in the 300 block of South Reed Street in Joliet, police said.
Joliet police officers arrested a 17-year-old in connection with the alleged armed robbery at 12:03 a.m. Wednesday. The teen was arrested in the 1200 block of Morgan Street, according to the Joliet police arrest records.
About 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, officers were flagged down by a man who claimed he was robbed in the 300 block of South Reed Street, Joliet police said. The man said one of his assailant showed a gun and then demanded his wallet, money and jacket, police said.
Police said a description of the robbers was given to the other officers in the area.
Officers located people matching the description of the suspects going into a garage on Morgan Street, police said, and officers met with them in the garage.
One of those inside the garage was positively identified as one of the robbers, police said.
The victim’s stolen items, along with a loaded firearm, were located inside the garage, police said.
The 17-year-old was placed in custody and taken to the Joliet Police Department for booking. He was then taken to River Valley Juvenile Detention Center.
The teen was charged with armed robbery and unlawful use of a weapon by felon.
