The Will County Regional Office of Education is looking to move from its office in New Lenox to a location in Joliet.
At its meeting this week, the Will County Board will vote on a resolution to enter into a lease agreement with Bays Rialto Building, commonly known as Two Rialto Square, for office space at 116 N. Chicago St., Suite 400, in Joliet to house the ROE.
The lease will begin Jan. 1, 2020, and will go through 2025, according to the resolution.
The county would pay $8,592 a month, or about $103,000 a year, for the lease.
The ROE serves as the intermediate agency between the Illinois State Board of Education and local school districts.
The office administers several programs, including truancy prevention, GED testing, life safety inspections of school buildings, bus driver training and continuing education for teachers and administrators.
Shawn Walsh, the son of Will County Executive Larry Walsh, is the elected regional superintendent.
