Kristina Kuzmic, the “mom-centric” YouTube star, will be taking her comedy tour to the Rialto Square Theatre on July 12 in Joliet.
Kuzmic went from a divorced, depressed mother of two to an online sensation with her videos about the trials and tribulations of parenthood. She has now amassed a following of more than 2 million people on Facebook. Kuzmic has also earned nearly 15 million views on her YouTube channel.
At her lowest point, Kuzmic said she turned to something she was good at – cooking. Her cooking videos got the attention of a TV producer, which earned her a spot on the show “Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star.”
She said TV executives wanted to make her a parenting expert, but Kuzmic had something else in mind. She said the concept of a parenting expert made her cringe because she knew there is no such thing.
“I’m always trying to send a message out there to that mom or that dad that’s feeling inadequate,” Kuzmic said. “We all, at times, feel inadequate.”
“It’s been honestly mind blowing,” she said.
She said she gets countless messages and emails from parents around the country telling her of their struggles.
She said her tour is sort of a “reply all.”
