For an inaugural event, last year's Joliet Blues Fest was an overwhelming success.
"We had over 1,000 people," Debbie Greene, director of development for the Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park and Theatre in Joliet, which hosted the events. "And a lot of great blues music."
This year's event will be held Aug. 10. Tickets are available online now.
Greene attributed much of the festival's success to its hard-working board. Members are Karl Maurer of the Hepkats; Ron Romero, founder of the Illinois Rock & Roll Museum on Route 66; and John Simpson, a member of the Bicentennial Park's board of directors.
"They're working really hard to put on a great festival for the community," Greene said.
