State Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant will host the third event of her Summer Speaker Series for teenagers and recent high school graduates as they transition to college.
She is inviting students to attend her “Freshman Year 101” talk at the Joliet Public Library Black Road Branch on Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., according to a news release.
Toni Fitzpatrick, the director of academic services at Lewis University, will share strategies and skills to support a successful freshman year.
“As our high school graduates and teens kick off their college career, it is vital that we help equip them with the tools to thrive in their educational experiences,” Bertino-Tarrant said in the release. “The goal of this informational series is to set up college freshmen on a path of success.”
The event is free and open to the public, although an RSVP is recommended. For more information, visit SenatorBertinoTarrant.com or call the senator’s district office at 815-254-4211.
