The Slammers on Saturday will host a fundraiser for a 6-year-old boy with cancer as part of Cancer Awareness Night at DuPage Medical Group Field.
The team will donate $5 for every $10 ticket sold, using the code “AustinsArmy,” to the family of Austin, a Joliet boy with osteosarcoma who has lost part of his leg.
Fans can designate the contribution to Austin while buying tickets online, by phone or at the ticket window, said Cori Herbert, director of tournaments and special events.
Austin was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in January and is in his second round of chemotherapy, according to information provided by the Slammers.
The game against the Southern Illinois Miners starts at 6:05 p.m.
