The Will County Clerk’s Office is looking for residents to sign up and become election judges for the 2020 election.

Will County Clerk Lauren Staley-Ferry said in a news release that she is searching for people from both political parties. Election judge training sessions have been ongoing since May and will continue until January 2020. Future election judges are required to attend the training, which is a two-and-a-half-hour class that is scheduled during a weekday morning or afternoon.

“Election judges play an important role in the voting process,” Staley-Ferry said.

Election judges will be paid $150 for the assigned day they work at a polling location, as well as reimbursement for their mileage, according to the release. Upon completion of training, they can also receive more compensation by picking up or dropping off election supplies on the day of the election.

The general primary is set for March 17, 2020, and the general election takes place on Nov. 3, 2020. All applicants must be U.S. citizens and registered voters in Will County. High school juniors and seniors with a 3.0 or 4.0 GPA also are eligible.

To apply, visit thewillcountyclerk.com and attend a training session.
