To the Editor:
Woe is me. Many of my senior friends have complained now that we are retired and our kids are all grown up and many have moved away, what do we do? Come on kids, we have plenty to do.
I am 75 years young, play in four bands and bowl in two summer and winter bowling leagues and golf in two senior summer leagues. I work out at least twice a week and the list goes on. By the way, we have several openings in our mixed afternoon Winter Senior Bowling League that just started up at Laraway Lanes in New Lenox, so come on down and join the fun.
But Ray, you are probably healthy and do all these things. Hogwash. I have at least 10 doctors and the pharmacists at Walgreens in New Lenox and I are on a first-name basis, not to mention the VA.
But Ray, we can't bowl or golf ! So we will teach you. There also are professional instructors available at all the golf courses in the area as well as the bowling lanes. We are retired but not dead (yet).
So let's quit crying about having nothing to do with yourself. And if you are a musician in the area or a singer give me a call (I should be in the New Lenox phone book). I have a couple places that can use your talent some for the joy of playing together and some for money-making opportunities. Let us enjoy life before the Lord calls us home.
Have a great day.
