A 24-year-old Joliet man was arrested after he allegedly entered a store inside the Louis Joliet Mall, asked disturbing personal questions of an underage female employee and made unwanted contact with her, police said.
Daniel Gomez, of the 900 block of Brentwood Drive in Joliet, was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery in a public place in connection with the incident.
About 7:25 p.m. Monday, officers were called to the Louis Joliet Mall at 3340 Mall Loop Drive after they received a report of a man who made unwanted physical contact with an underage female, Joliet police Sgt. Christopher Botzum said.
The officers were able to determine that Gomez entered one of the stores inside the mall and began to ask an underage female employee personal questions that were both disturbing and alarming, Botzum said
“At one point, Gomez made unwanted contact with the employee,” Botzum said.
Once Gomez left the store, the employee notified security personnel, he said. Officers also were informed of three other incidents in which Gomez made unwanted comments to other female victims in the mall.
Gomez was arrested at the mall and taken to the Will County jail, according to police records.
He posted 10% of his $20,000 bond and was released from jail about 11 a.m. Wednesday. As a condition of his bond, he is not allowed to have contact with the employee, the women’s clothing store Francesca’s or the mall.
