and Matthew Cerven from Providence High School were honored with DAR Good Citizen pins and certificates in April and May by members of the Louis Joliet Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution at several awards ceremonies.
Each awardee is given an opportunity to compete in the DAR Good Citizen Essay Contest for a scholarship award.
The essay must be written under the supervision of a school administrator. A question is provided each year at the time of administration and the student is given 2 hours and 550
words to answer the question.
This year’s question was “What challenges will America face as we move forward toward the future?” Alyssa Gomez from Joliet Catholic Academy won the DAR Good Citizen essay contest and received the scholarship award this year.
