Why Baumgartner was selected:
The Knights senior cross country runner claimed a second place finish in 18:44.6 in the 14-team Joliet Central Invite to help her team finish in third place.
Herald-News sportswriter Curt Herron talked with her.
Herron: What do like most about your team?
Baumgartner: I like that whenever we're together, it's like it's your second family. It's nice to come to practice and have people to support you and you can count on them.
Herron: What do like most about competing for Lincoln-Way Central?
Baumgartner: It's great. We have a deep program and with all of the new people coming in I definitely think that we'll do well this year.
Herron: What do you like most about running?
Baumgartner: I like how there's an individual aspect to it. It's just you against the clock but there's always the team and you compete with them.
Herron: What do you want to do in the future?
Baumgartner: I want to go to college and do something like pre-med.
Herron: What's your favorite TV show?
Baumgartner: I love The Office.
Herron: What's your favorite movie?
Baumgartner: The Lion King.
Herron: What's your favorite music?
Baumgartner: John Mayer and Vance Joy.
Herron: What do you like to do in your free time?
Baumgartner: Running or walking my dogs.
Herron: Who's someone that you'd like to meet?
Baumgartner: Shelby Houlihan, who's a runner
Herron: Who's your favorite sports team?
Baumgartner: The Chicago Fire.
Herron: What's your favorite place that you've visited?
Baumgartner: Nashville with the country aspect mixed with modern stuff.
Herron: What's your favorite food and place to eat?
Baumgartner: I love pasta. I like the food that I make myself.
Herron: Do you have any pets?
Baumgartner: I have two Vizslas, Cody and Ivy.
