Why Anderson was selected:
The Joliet Township co-op junior tied for medalist honors with a 77 to help her team to repeat as Southwest Prairie Conference Tournament champions with a 336 total.
Anderson talked with Herald-News sportswriter Curt Herron. Below is an edited transcript.
Herron: What did you like about your performance last week in the SPC Tournament?
Anderson: It was raining so the greens were a huge guess. After smacking my farthest drive I've hit on the first hole, it was the best feeling and I knew that it was going to be a good day.
Herron: What do like most about your team?
Anderson: I love everyone on the team and I love how it's more like a family than a team. I've grown up with them so we help each other and whatever we need, we have each other.
Herron: What do like most about competing for Joliet Township?
Anderson: The co-op is an interesting aspect because having two different schools is fun. We each have our own atmosphere and get to hear the different stories from each school.
Herron: What do you like most about golf?
Anderson: I've played golf forever. I like how good it makes me feel when I've hit a good drive, swing or putt. And when I hear the ball drop in the cup, it's one of the best sounds.
Herron: Who's your biggest influences?
Anderson: My parents, Beth and Brad. They never pushed me to do too much and it was like if you want to, you can do it.
Herron: Where's the best place that you've visited and where would you like to visit?
Anderson: Hawaii. And I want to go to Italy.
Herron: What's your favorite TV show and movie?
Anderson: 'Dexter' and 'Hairspray'.
Herron: What type of music do you like and who's your favorite artist?
Anderson: I like indie music that's mellow stuff. And Billie Eilish.
Herron: Who's someone that you would like to meet?
Anderson: I'd really want to meet Jordan Spieth.
Herron: Who's your favorite sports team and athlete?
Anderson: Minnesota Vikings. And Jordan Spieth.
Herron: What do you like to do in your free time?
Anderson: I hang out with my friends.
Herron: What's your favorite food?
Herron: What's been your favorite class in school?
Anderson: AP Psychology.
Herron: What do you want to do in the future?
Anderson: I want to go to college and really want to continue my golf career in college. And I want to study occupational therapy.
