Healthy Kids Running Series Shorewood (“HKRS”) is a community-based nonprofit organization that gets boys and girls ages 2 to14 active, feel accomplished and lays the foundation for a healthy lifestyle through goal setting and dedication.
The series takes place once a week and offers age-appropriate race distances. Kids compete each week for a chance to earn points, and at the end of the series, the top boy and girl with the most point sin their respective age division earn a trophy.
All participants receive a finishers medal, race bag and Healthy Kids Running Series tech shirt for their achievements.
Over 50,000 plus kids participate in more than 200 Healthy Kids Running Series nationwide. During the 2019 spring and fall seasons, 220 kids from Shorewood ran in the in the five-week series.
The Shorewood series is located at Walnut Trails Elementary School in Shorewood.
