A Joliet search committee for a new city manager will meet for the first time Monday.
The meeting was called to begin review of the 25 resumes received for the job by the Oct. 11 application deadline. The résumé reviews are slated to be done in closed session. But the committee will hear public comments at the start of the meeting, which is at 5 p.m. in the executive conference room at City Hall.
The Joliet Ad Hoc City Manager Search Committee consists of Mayor Bob O'Dekirk, council member Jan Quillman and council member Michael Turk. They will narrow down candidates for the full City Council.
Joliet is filling the city manager position that was vacated in October 2018 when David Hales left after less than a year on the job. Since then the city has had two interim city managers: City Attorney Martin Shanahan and Deputy City Manager/Economic Development Director Steve Jones. Jones is not seeking the position. Shanahan is believed to have put in a résumé.
