The U.S. Small Business Administration and State Farm are hosting an online seminar on disaster preparedness and disaster recovery on Oct. 30.
An estimated 25% of businesses don’t open again after a major disaster, according to a flyer for the seminar from the SBA. The seminar is free, and participants can learn about steps they can take to plan and prepare for a disaster and where to get assistance if disaster strikes.
This opportunity comes after a summer of heavy rains caused damage to Will County farms and businesses.
The online seminar will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Oct. 30. Those interested can register at DisasterPlanningOct30.eventbrite.com. Once registered, instructions will be sent by email.
Kathy Cook, a public affairs specialist with the SBA’s Office of Disaster Assistance, and Paula Gustafson, a State Farm underwriting analyst with 25 years of industry experience, will be the guest presenters during the seminar.
