State Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant is partnering with AARP to host a free workshop on prescription drug affordability and coverage on Thursday.

Courtney Hedderman of AARP Illinois will present the latest information on federal and state prescription drug affordability measures as well as Medicare open enrollment details.

The workshop will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon at White Oak Library’s Crest Hill Branch, located at 20670 Len Kubinski Drive.

This workshop is open to the public. No RSVP is required.

Bertino-Tarrant said in a news release that seniors spend the most money for their prescription drugs.

“Residents on a fixed income are struggling to keep up with the rising costs of prescription drugs,” Bertino-Tarrant said. “This informative workshop will help connect residents with updated information on state and federal programs to help ease the financial burden of necessary medications.”

The state senator also touted her recent efforts to help pass legislation to cap out-of-pocket costs for insulin. The bill recently passed in the state Senate and will go before the House of Representatives for consideration.

Those with any questions or concerns can reach out to Bertino-Tarrant’s office at 815-254-4211 or visit SenatorBertinoTarrant.com.
