Local students earn scholarships, awards and are inducted into honor societies

Below is a list of local students who received scholarships and awards in 2019:

Allison White of Manhattan: Mechanical Engineering Scholar Award from the Caterpillar College of Engineering and Technology at Bradley University.

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Bradley spring semester 2019 awards: Kelly Hernandez of Bolingbrook received the Outstanding Performance in Calculus by a Math Major Award. Allison Plourde of Frankfort received the Ballowe Scholarship in creative rriting. Austin Barr of Romeoville earned a $12,000 annual Founders Scholarship to Albright College, in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Illinois State University student Mary Pat Robey of Plainfield: Robert G. Bone Scholars for the 2019-2020 school year.

Lockport Township awarded $1,000 scholarships on June 11: Brianna Tulley from Providence High School in New Lenox and John Weis, Julianna Morales and Hannah Pacheco (not present) from Lockport Township High School

Rockford University student Joseph Kmiec of Bolingbrook: Barber Colman Management Fund Scholarship.

Rollins College student Adam Roderick ‘19 of Plainfield was named a Fulbright Scholar. As part of the award, Roderick will teach English in Germany. Roderick is also the first U.S. military veteran from Rollins to receive this distinguished honor.

Kaleigh Schmutzler of Plainfield: University of Wisconsin-Stout Chancellor's Award for the spring 2019 semester.

Millikin University bestowed these awards: Dr. Neil Baird Biology Lab Assistant Award: Anthony Bryan of Plainfield; Thomas W. & Mary R. Adney Memorial Award: Isaac Hopper of New Lenox; Dorothy Sellers Art Award: Anya Moritz of Plainfield
