Book signing on Sunday
Joliet-area author Jennifer Nicole will sign and sell copies of her book "Pennies in the Wishing Well" from 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 17 at For the Love of Soul, 318 S. Chicago St. in Joliet.

Residents and the arts
Earlier this fall, the University of Iowa orchestra, which includes Dominique Archambeau of Joliet, performed a concert exclusively for fourth grade students in the Iowa City Community School District. The annual event attracted more than 1,400 students.
The Fighting Scots Marching Band at Monmouth College, which includes Abbey Grady of Plainfield, performs at all home football games and marches in local parades.
Katherine Hayes of Romeoville is a member of the 2019 Monmouth College Pipe Band.
Two hundred and sixty current University of Iowa students are members of the 2019 Hawkeye Marching Band. These include trumpet players Jack Kincer of Plainfield on and Michael Turone of Joliet.
Cornell College presented a choral concert April. The Chamber Singers and Concert Choir, including Alexander Schedel of Bolingbrook, performed a variety of pieces, including "Summertime" by George Gershwin and "Identities" by Paul Rardin.
Iowa State University student Erin Czyzewski of Frankfort was a member of the Alumni and Committee Relations Committee for The Fashion Show 2019.
