Right before Halloween, "Boo to the Flu Health & Resource Fair" came to Joliet where more than 70 residents learned how to protect themselves against this year’s flu virus.
Flu season starts as early as October and continues through May. During this time, between 10 and 20 percent of the U.S. population will get the virus.
IlliniCare Health teamed up with health and wellness organizations in the community to offer free flu shots to attendees, as well diabetes and blood pressure screenings at Riverwalk Homes. In its ongoing efforts to promote healthy lifestyle choices,
IlliniCare Health also distributed free fresh smoothies to more than 60 attendees, encouraging them to eat healthy and make nutritious food choices.
IlliniCare Health also treated Joliet families to free Halloween-themed fitness activities, games, raffle drawings and family fun such as arts and crafts and face painting.
