Two masked men stuck up a Monee Circle K station and absconded with garbage bags full of Newport cigarettes and Black & Mild cigars, as well as a handful of cash, police said.
Will County deputies were dispatched to the convenience store and service station near the corner of South LaGrange and West Monee Manhattan roads about 4 a.m. Nov. 16 to investigate a report of a robbery.
A woman working at the business told the deputies two men clad entirely in black and wearing masks and gloves walked in the store.
The woman also said that at least one of the two men was armed with a handgun, according to police.
The worker told deputies how one of the men “grabbed her from the kitchen area and escorted her to the front register.”
The woman then was forced to the floor while the masked bandits proceeded to stuff garbage bags full of Newports and Black & Milds, police said.
The crooks also reportedly snatched $55 out of the cash register.
“Deputies also spoke to a male customer who was in the store at the time of the robbery,” police said.
The man told deputies the two crooks “quickly moved towards him when they entered the store.”
“The customer stated that he believes that while he was being forced to the ground a handgun was pointed at the back of his head,” police said. “The [robbers] took $100 cash from the customer.”
