Why Hill was selected:
The senior guard averaged 20 points per game and was the most valuable player after helping the Tigers to four wins by an average of 25 points as they claimed the championship of the Joliet West Tiger Thanksgiving Classic.
Hill talked with Herald-News sportswriter Curt Herron. Below is an edited transcript.
Herron: What did you like about your performance?
Hill: We played good and every team that we played we won by 20-plus, and that was big for us. We've grown a lot as a team this year and gotten closer and are more like a family.
Herron: What do like most about your team?
Hill: Whether we're up or down, we trust each other and talk to each other and play better.
Herron: What do like most about competing for Joliet West?
Hill: This year we all have the same mindset and we all know what we have to do to accomplish our goals.
Herron: What do you like most about basketball?
Hill: I can play it in whatever mood that I'm in. Even if I'm mad, when I play basketball, I can forget about everything that's just happened.
Herron: Who are your biggest influences?
Hill: When I was little, I used to play with a lot of older guys and looked up to them and talked to them about how to get better. Now I talk to my coach (Jeremy Kreiger).
Herron: What's your favorite music and artist?
Hill: Rap music. Lil Baby.
Herron: Where's the most interesting place that you've visited?
Hill: The Mall of America in Minnesota.
Herron: Where is somewhere that you'd like to visit?
Hill: Either Atlanta or California.
Herron: Who's someone that you would like to meet?
Hill: Kobe Bryant.
Herron: What do want to do in your future?
Hill: I want to play professional basketball but I'm not sure after that.
Herron: What's your favorite food and a place to eat?
Hill: I like burgers. And Five Guys.
Herron: Who's your favorite sports team and athlete?
Hill: It's been awhile since I had a favorite team since Derrick Rose played for the Bulls. Right now it's the rookie Ja Morant.
Herron: What's your favorite class?
Herron: What do you like to do in your free time?
Hill: I read some times but I haven't been lately since I'm busy.
Herron: Do you have any pets?
Hill: No, but I like dogs and I want a dog.
