“Without a doubt, my mom and dad were not just a couple but best friends,” Frank said. “Every morning they kissed goodbye and every night they kissed when he came home. I never saw them argue. He shined his shoes, drank his coffee, kissed his wife goodbye and went to work.”
In a 2007 Herald-News Extraordinary Life story, Francis praised his wife, who became president of the Joliet Toastmasters Club, won twice in cooking contests The Herald-News had sponsored and even learning Spanish to better help the clients St. Vincent de Paul served.
"She had a very generous nature and she was always giving to charities and helping out at church, not in any leadership capacity, just where it was needed,” Francis had said in the story.
