The dedication was a complete surprise to Troutman as the information had been kept under tight wraps by his wife Ellen, and the staff and board members of the Channahon Township and Channahon Park District.
Troutman was recognized for his continuous support and volunteer efforts in the community.
Since 2011 he has been actively involved with Special Olympics, including the Super Plunge, the Law Enforcement Torch Run and Truck Convoy.
Troutman has coached baseball since 2013 at Challenger Field in Tinley Park where people of all abilities can play baseball.
He has supported and volunteered for many local organizations including Habitat for Humanity and numerous youth sports programs.
Many of the kids Troutman has coached were in attendance supporting the dedication to him.
