Joliet Central High School’s Black Student Union and Unity CDC,we would like to cordially will host the "7th Annual Community Unity Brunch” on Jan. 18.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jacob Henry Mansion, located at 15 South Richards St. in Joliet.

The purpose of "7th Annual Community Unity Brunch” is to socially engage community leaders and families in the Joliet area and raise money for BSU’s scholarship fund and Unity CDC’s building operations fund.
In addition, the brunch will celebrate the life, legacy and leadership of Martin Luther King Jr. and all those that have paved the way for black youth and adolescents.
This year marks the second year in which the Black Student Union (BSU) of Joliet Central High School will be partnering with Unity CDC to host this prestigious event.
This year's keynote speaker is Pastor Deon Hayes, senior overseer of One Vision Worship Center located in Joliet.
Hayes is known for his exemplary organizational and leadership ingenuity.
About Deon Hayes
Hayes is the founder and senior pastor of One Vision Life Center. He was ordained by the Honorable Bishop Arthur M. Brazier and Bishop Horace Smith.
For 13 years, Hayes has led One Vision in spiritual growth, outreach, community impact and relational depth through engaging teaching and leadership development. Empowering volunteers and staff to serve the church and community. a
He has preached all over Unites States, as well as Africa and London, and has received invitations to preach in India, Pakistan, Germany, South Africa and The Bahamas.
Hayes also plays the keyboard, bass guitar and drums without ever taking a lesson. For many years he focused his attention on building a musical career until he responded to God's call to the ministry.
Hayes is responsible for The Walk for Cancer, community giveaways, feeding the homeless and feeding those who live in shelters. He has helped people pay their rent, utilities, has bought food to feed people, helped children with their school fees and has gone to children’s games to support them.
He visits the sick in the hospital, ministers to those in prison, and even pays for youth to have their hair cut.
Hayes is the Author of “Having an Affair With Faith” a book that’s chronicles a personal injury that he suffered at a fitness center.
He has been interviewed on television and radio stations. He has birthed other pastors and mentored hundreds of people.
Hayes has received many awards and accomplishments. In 2013 The University of St. Francis honored him with The Dr. Martin Luther King Visionary Award.
That same year St. Thomas College in Jacksonville Florida honored him with a Honorary Doctorate degree. In 2019 Pastor Hayes received his Bachelor of Arts in theology.
Hayes is the son of Willie and Jan Hayes. He is married to Katrice Hayes and they have two children: Jennifer and Christian.
