Palmer touts fourth quarter fundraising with $100,000 on hand

Democratic Will County executive candidate Nick Palmer touted his fundraising total at the end of last year.

Palmer’s campaign ended the year with more than $100,000 on hand, according to a news release.

He emphasized that his money came from nearly 350 unique donors mostly giving smaller donations from around the county.

“My [money] is from a lot of regular people and businesses,” Palmer said. “And I’ve not been a career politician.”

Palmer serves as the chief of staff to Larry Walsh, the current Will County executive.

Walsh announced last year he wouldn’t seek reelection to the post he’s held since 2004.

State Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, D-Shorewood, is running against Palmer for the Democratic nomination. Former Braidwood Police Chief Nick Ficarello is running as a Republican for the job.

The Illinois primary election will be held March 17.
