At eight months, Thomas, a mix of four breeds, mostly Staffordshire terrier, is doing well.
“He’s thriving in a home with other animals and children,” Crotty said. “When he came to me, he was 40 pounds. When he was found, he was under 25 and 6 months old. So they kept him for weight eights…they brought him back from the brink of death.”
Once Thomas was well enough to travel, a volunteer drove to Texas to pick him up, Thomas has lived with Crotty ever since and doing extremely well, especially for having grown up on the streets, Crotty said.
He’s less protective of his food than when he first arrived, loves squeaky toys and is currently doing well with training.
“He has a lot of energy,” Crotty said. “He doesn’t know he is a large breed. He wants to be as close to you as possible, he wants to lay on top of you…he’s so full of life. He loves people and it touches my soul. He has every reason not to love people but he does…he’s now able to be the puppy he should have been.”
